Founded by first generation American James Edward O’Toole in 1966, we are Central Virginia’s oldest Irish Pub. Now owned and operated by his sons, John and Tom O’Toole, we offer great food, fine drinks, sprightly music, and the healthiest dose of Irish cheer in Richmond.

A Richmond classic, a family affair, and true to our Irish roots.

“Perfect neighborhood pub wide ranging menu (including the Irish classics, but well beyond that too.) ….. Plus, the owner is very active and supportive of the neighborhood elementary school always nice to support a business that gives back!”

-Shannon H.

“I have enjoyed O’Toole’s excellent menu and fine, old style, down home atmosphere for over 43 years. Moved away long ago, but still love to get the chance when visiting Richmond. It’s still as good as the first time I found it! Thanks.”

-Patrick S.

“Great neighborhood place! So nice to have it in the neighborhood. The food is pretty good with a nice selection of wine and beers. One of my favorite items to get is the prezel! Big, salty and Yum!”

-Mark L.

“I have traveled around the northern hemisphere and this is one of the best pubs I have ever been to!

-Dan B.

Strange Days Indeed

We’ve worked to stay open during hurricanes since then. We’ve done our best during snowstorms. We’ve gathered the awnings from the parking lots after thunderstorms. This is different.

The Workman’s Friend

Guinness is so ubiquitous in Ireland that many call it “a pint of plain.” But there’s much about the elixir that you may not know.

Corned Beef & Cabbage. Really?

Went to New York City recently, and as is our wont, we went to Katz’s Deli. Remember that movie? “When Harry Met Sally”? That’s the place they went when Meg Ryan did that thing. Anyway, one of the reasons we stop there is because they serve a corned beef sandwich the...

Getting Real with St. Patrick

So. March 17th. St. Patrick’s Day. That’s the day we all wear green, claim a bit of Irish blood, drink Irish beers, and celebrate St. Patrick – the quintessential Irishman – driving the snakes from Ireland… …Except that’s mostly all wrong. There was indeed a real “St....
